Synopsis via Goodreads

“I would say it’s a pleasure to meet thee, Prosperity Oceanus Redding, but truly, I only anticipate the delights of destroying thy happiness.”

Prosper is the only unexceptional Redding in his old and storied family history — that is, until he discovers the demon living inside him. Turns out Prosper’s great-great-great-great-great-something grandfather made — and then broke — a contract with a malefactor, a demon who exchanges fortune for eternal servitude. And, weirdly enough, four-thousand-year-old Alastor isn’t exactly the forgiving type.

The fiend has reawakened with one purpose — to destroy the family whose success he ensured and who then betrayed him. With only days to break the curse and banish Alastor back to the demon realm, Prosper is playing unwilling host to the fiend, who delights in tormenting him with nasty insults and constant attempts trick him into a contract. Yeah, Prosper will take his future without a side of eternal servitude, thanks.

Little does Prosper know, the malefactor’s control over his body grows stronger with each passing night, and there’s a lot Alastor isn’t telling his dim-witted (but admittedly strong-willed) human host.

From #1 New York Times best-selling author Alexandra Bracken comes a tale of betrayal and revenge, of old hurts passed down from generation to generation. Can you ever fully right a wrong, ever truly escape your history? Or will Prosper and Alastor be doomed to repeat it?

Anyone who knows me can tell you I love Alexandra Bracken. So of course it is no surprise that I had to get my hands on this! Of course I loved it! It has been a long while since I read a middle grade book, so I was a little worried I may feel a disconnect. NO DISCONNECT HERE! This story was so cute and fun to read. It was set at a great pace never lulling or losing interest.
The character development was fantastic. Our main character Prosper is certainly put through the ringer throughout the story dealing with possession and what not! That being said he also grows so much even while having to share his mind with Alastor. It really has a great coming of age aspect.
Alastor was also a pleasant surprise. He is the demon possessing Prosper but he becomes more than just “the bad guy.” He brought so much comic relief. Nell was a breath of fresh air with her cute eccentric style. She marched her own drum beat and I LOVED IT!

I love a good middle grade book and this one did not disappoint. Perfect fall read. I loved all the supernatural aspects. Fans of movies like Hocus Pocus and Halloween Town are going to love this! Alexandra is my favorite for a reason. Another fabulous five star read.

Synopsis via Goodreads

Danielle’s plans for the future were pretty easy to figure out… until she failed senior English and her single college application was denied. Suddenly she’s in hot water with very few options, because honestly who applies to a safety school when their mom is a semi-famous “college psychic”?!

Determined to get her life back on track, Danielle enrolls in her hometown community college with a plan: pass her English class and get back into Ohio State and her mother’s good graces. Romance isn’t on her radar… until she reconnects with her childhood crush and golden-boy-next-door, Luke.

Between family drama, first love and finding her own way, Danielle can’t help but feel a little overwhelmed. Thankfully she has her friendship with the snarky and frustratingly attractive Porter, her coworker at the campus bookstore, to push her to experience new things and help keep her afloat.

One thing’s for sure: This time, failure’s not an option.

WOW WOW WOW

I loved this so much. I was not sure what to expect going in. I thought we would be following a downward spiral of Danielle but what I got was so much better. This was such a great coming of age story. I loved watching Danielle grow into the person she wanted to be. Learning to trust herself and not bend to the whims of others.

The male leads where amazing. They both had different things going for them. Luke with his connection to her past. He also trying to figure out who is in this world. Along the way we see his family and learn the expectations on him.

Porter. I LOVED HIM. He was so unapologetically him throughout the whole story. I loved the way he kept notes in his notepads. It gave him this amazingly real way to see the world. I loved that he found a way to remember even the small things life had to offer.

If you love a good coming of age rom com this is so for you.  Five big freaking stars for this amazing debut novel!

Synopsis Via Goodreads

“I’m sorry,” he said, slowly untying the ribbon that held his mask in place. “It’s just-I didn’t want you to think of me any differently.”

Somehow I kept my mouth from falling open. I knew his face, but my mind couldn’t accept that he was the person looking down at me.

“My real name is Alec.”

Felicity has her entire future planned. Ever since her older sister ran away, she’s had the full weight of her mother’s expectations on her shoulders. So she works hard to get straight As and save for college.

Except sometimes the best things in life are unplanned-like when Felicity meets a handsome, masked stranger while she is volunteering at a charity masquerade ball. She never thought he’d flirt with her. And she certainly never thought he’d turn out to be a member of the world-famous Heartbreakers band, Alec.

Then Felicity uncovers a shocking family secret. Suddenly, she, Alec, and her two best friends are off on a road trip to find Felicity’s missing sister. And she’s about to discover that unexpected turns have a peculiar way of landing her right where she needs to be…

Ali Novak gave me life these last few days! I listened to the heartbreakers right before I started reading Paper hearts! Both of which were so stinking cute.

This installments follows Alec our stoic silent type. I was so excited to hear hi s story especially since we saw glimpse of how his father treated him and the boys in the first book. On that note I have to say I wanted more of Alec, his life, his father, his past and I feel like we did not get that. We got a lot of Felicity’s (our main lady love in this installment) back story because she was the main POV of the book. I really hope we get to see more what happens with Alec and the band after the new direction he took for himself.

Felicity was a good character, I did not love her as much as Stella but she still had great moments. This story followed her on her, two friends, and Alec on their hunt for her sister. Some how took a more serious tone than the first. Because of this we did not see the heartbreakers together as often. However when we did it was so fun! Fels friends also brought more laughter to the group when everyone was all together.

I really liked reading these two books. I laughed out loud so many times! Reading these is like watching a teen romcom and I LOVE IT! Paper Hearts was an awesome next installment. It did lack in a few spots for me but all together it was a 3.75 stars. If I had just a little more Alec I would have bumped it to four. I recommend this series to anyone who loves YA and laughing!!!

Synopsis Via Goodreads

Tessa Hart’s world feels very small. Confined to her bedroom with agoraphobia, her one escape is the online fandom for pop sensation Eric Thorn. When he tweets to his fans, it’s like his speaking directly to her…

Eric Thorn is frightened by his obsessive fans. They take their devotion way too far. It doesn’t help that his PR team keeps posting to encourage their fantasies.

When a fellow pop star is murdered at the hands of a fan, Eric knows he has to do something to shatter his online image fast—like take down one of his top Twitter followers. But Eric’s plan to troll @TessaHeartsEric unexpectedly evolves into an online relationship deeper than either could have imagined. And when the two arrange to meet IRL, what should have made for the world’s best episode of Catfish takes a deadly turn…

Told through tweets, direct messages, and police transcripts.

Okay people I am #followmebackobsessed this book just took me on a wild ride that had me yelling at my fiance for answers! I may have scared him into calling off our wedding because of this book!

But really lets focus. The start was really slow for me. I had a hard time digging in but I am so glad I stuck through it because once it picked up, I couldn’t stop. Tessa is suffering from an event that happened in her past that causes her a fear of leaving her home. She is a soft unassuming character because of this. I was really rooting for her the whole way through. I found myself wanting her to get a happy ending.

Eric Thorn is your typical pop star boy in these types of books, he hates his fame. Except he actually has a reason with the recent murder of a fellow pop star. Eric can’t shake the fear that something like this could happen to him. He goes on a journey almost as meaningful as Tessa’s.

The writing style was neat. I am really excited to see a finished copy of this book because my galley had some spacing issues and no page breaks, causing some things to get lost in translation from time to time. That is to be expected with uncorrected proofs just makes the need for the finished copy even stronger.

THE END OF THIS BOOK LEFT ME REELING. I am in shock and awe. I can’t even explain the range of emotions. I also did not there was a squeal hence my tantrum that scared my fiance. I can not even wait to find out what happens next. This book was an unexpected gem. READ IT PEOPLE. It is sure to have you clinging to end of you seat trying to guess what happens next.

Four obsessed stars!

Synopsis Via Goodreads :

One of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five strangers walk into detention and only four walk out alive. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide.

Pay close attention and you might solve this.

On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention.

Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule.

Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess.

Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing.

Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher.

And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High’s notorious gossip app.

Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom. Before the end of detention Simon’s dead. And according to investigators, his death wasn’t an accident. On Monday, he died. But on Tuesday, he’d planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who’s still on the loose?

Everyone has secrets, right? What really matters is how far you would go to protect them.

Sorry for my MIAness lately. I started a new position at my work and it has been keeping a bit busy. That being said I AM NOT going to neglect my blog anymore.

BIG thank you to netgalley and publishers for this ARC. I saw the premise and was desperate to get my hands on this!!! So to say my expectations were high is an understatement. A thriller twist on the breakfast club and it did not disappoint.

The characters were super fleshed out! I was worried that switch back and forth would throw off the story, but they all stood so well on there own that I couldn’t stop reading AT ALL. I loved them all so much it is hard to choose! My favorite was Addy this girl grew leaps and bounds in front of our eyes and it was a fantastic transformation! Bad boy sexy pants Nate was everything I could hope for from the “criminal.” Nerd extraordinaire Bronwyn being a girl was GREAT. Cooper my heart! Just everyone was great.

The plot was good. I was interested the whole way through and could not wait to finish the book. That being said the major plot point was very obvious to may pretty early in. I had a guess to what really happened and I was right. That all being said I still really enjoyed the book. The pacing, the writing, the characters, and of course the story. This is a damn good debut from Karen McManus. Please write us more books about anything! McManus is a new insta buy for me! FOUR STARS!!!

Synopsis Via Goodreads

An ancient mystery. An unlikely union. For one young princess in a state of peril, a dangerous wish could be the only answer…

She is the princess of Bharata—captured by her kingdom’s enemies, a prisoner of war. Now that she faces a future of exile and scorn, Gauri has nothing left to lose. But should she trust Vikram, the notoriously cunning prince of a neighboring land? He promises her freedom in exchange for her battle prowess. Together they can team up and win the Tournament of Wishes, a competition held in a mythical city where the Lord of Wealth promises a wish to the victor. It seems like a foolproof plan—until Gauri and Vikram arrive at the tournament and find that danger takes on new shapes: poisonous courtesans, mischievous story birds, a feast of fears, and twisted fairy revels. New trials will test their devotion, strength, and wits. But what Gauri and Vikram will soon discover is that there’s nothing more dangerous than what they most desire.

I was so excited for this because I love Roshani’s lyrical writing. Star touched intrigued me so much! Crown did just the same. I loved the two main characters this go about.  While on the subject of characters while at an event I went to Rosh said she was inspired by a few things and Beauty and the beast was one. Spoiler alert the beast in this story is Gauri.

Gauri is a bad ass female character who is deadly, beastly, but also feminine! She loves make up as much as swords and even as someone who does not wear makeup much I really loved that about her. She shows a side to female YA characters that we don’t  see much which is being able to do both. You can be a bad ass sword wielding warrior but also love feeling beautiful!

Vikram was book boyfriend material at its finest! He is witty, sarcastic, intelligent, and perfect. I enjoyed him so much and again the fact that he showed a different side that YA is lacking sometimes. He was the softer character who was very in tune to his feelings. He used his mind and heart to fight battles. He listened and remembered and I LOVE HIM.

Okay BANTER people! So much cute witty banter. I am a sucker for people who bicker this book had so much of it! Examples below.

“Are you done?”

“Yes.”

“May I get up?”

“No.”

“I see you like your men with their egos gutted.”

“Only when I’m feeling generous.”

He laughed. “My apologies.”

and this one here is my favorite but MAJOR spoiler because it is from the very very end of the book highlight if you want to read…

“I didn’t manipulate. I encouraged. My council does want me to get married. I just thought that we’d grown so used to annoying one another that we might as well do that for the rest of my life and I would have preferred to ask you when you stood in front of me and not through a series of treaties! And I say the rest of my life, not ours, since this just confirms that you will be the death of me. And as for knowing how you felt, I knew because I asked.”

I MEAN COME ON PEOPLE SO MUCH YESSS!

I ended up liking this more than star touched! My only quip would be that it was occasionally slow but not enough to make me lose interest. This is easily a four star

Synopsis Via Goodreads

Last summer, Lucy’s and Ben’s lives changed in an instant. One moment, they were shyly flirting on a lake raft, finally about to admit their feelings to each other after years of yearning. In the next, Trixie—Lucy’s best friend and Ben’s sister—was gone, her heart giving out during a routine swim. And just like that, the idyllic world they knew turned upside down, and the would-be couple drifted apart, swallowed up by their grief. Now it’s a year later in their small lake town, and as the anniversary of Trixie’s death looms, Lucy and Ben’s undeniable connection pulls them back together. They can’t change what happened the day they lost Trixie, but the summer might finally bring them closer to healing—and to each other.

I struggled a little with my rating here. BUT I think I figured it all out! I tore through this book in one day! I was super invested in the story and the characters. Losing friends young is very hard. I lost family and friends young. One of my long time friends when I was just a senior in high school. So this book called to me right away.

We are dealing with two people at different stages in their grief. Lucy lost Trixie her best friend as if that isn’t painful enough she loses Ben as well. The love of her life and Trixies brother. He is alive but is unable to be around her now. Lucy is at the point where she is sad and missing her best friend every day but she knows that she needs to get moving. That living is what Trixie would have wanted. She meets a boy Simon and that’s really where everything changes for her.
Ben goes bat shit crazy in the wake of his sister’s death. He is harboring guilt because he thinks if he had been paying attention to his sister and not Lucy she would be alive. He hates the world and everything in it. He attacks Lucy with that hate every chance he gets. Bens grief is the kind I understand. I loved that he was angry and reckless. I loved that he cursed like a sailor and acted out sexually. It felt very real to me. Don’t get me wrong I was yelling at the book, begging him to get his shit together! That is the point though he invoked a real feeling within me.
Lucy was also a beautiful character. She has made a new friend named Hannah who is trying to help her deal with the grief. I loved their friendship so much. I loved that Hannah wanted to know Trixie. That she treated her with respect even though she was gone. I loved all the female friendships in this book!

” Be really brave. BRB – our code.”

That sums up how amazing Trixie and these relationships are.

Now on to my issues. Simon the boy Lucy begins dating to try and move on from Ben. He seems extremely sweet and it’s so clear at times he loves her in a way. I also felt some off things about him. Maybe he capitalized on grief a little. I don’t know if that was intentional because it wasn’t addressed. He also throws something very personal in Bens face and that sat very very wrong with me. Simon at the end also faces a grief of his own and I didn’t think that was needed. SPOLIERISH? I hated the kind of stress that added to Lucy. Simon and all his flaws was there for her during her grief and she just left him. It did not sit well with me. BUT my conflicting feelings on Simon the ones that think he was using her grief make me think that is why she left him in his time of need. (I don’t mean she should have stayed with him by any means. Just been a friend)

SO this was my only issue with the story. If you can even call it that.
I really liked this book. I think everyone should read! It dealt with grief in ways we don’t often see in the YA world. It also gave us different manifestations of grief helping show that not everyone grieves the same. It was wonderful. FOUR STAR.

Synopsis via Goodreads

Geek girl Elle Wittimer lives and breathes Starfield, the classic sci-fi series she grew up watching with her late father. So when she sees a cosplay contest for a new Starfield movie, she has to enter. The prize? An invitation to the ExcelsiCon Cosplay Ball, and a meet-and-greet with the actor slated to play Federation Prince Carmindor in the reboot. With savings from her gig at the Magic Pumpkin food truck (and her dad’s old costume), Elle’s determined to win…unless her stepsisters get there first.

Teen actor Darien Freeman used to live for cons—before he was famous. Now they’re nothing but autographs and awkward meet-and-greets. Playing Carmindor is all he’s ever wanted, but Starfield fandom has written him off as just another dumb heartthrob. As ExcelsiCon draws near, Darien feels more and more like a fake—until he meets a girl who shows him otherwise. But when she disappears at midnight, will he ever be able to find her again?

Part romance, part love letter to nerd culture, and all totally adorbs, Geekerella is a fairy tale for anyone who believes in the magic of fandom.

Hello my name is Taylor…and I’m a OBSESSED FANGIRL over this book. I can’t even get myself together to write this review. I am so in love, I am going to go buy every book by Ashley Poston.

OKAY first I loved that it was set in Charleston SC such a beautiful area! Also fangirl moment here Yallfest takes place there and I could so picture the pumpkin going through downtown. Okay back to the review…. This gave me so many happy feels. I related to Elle on so many levels. I spent all of high school with my black glasses, dyed red hair, my miniature dachshund, and everything nerdy thing known to man.

“You’re a good boy, yes you are! Once I save up enough, I’ll spring the both of us out of here. Whatcha think of that, copilot?” His tail pat-pats excitedly in the mud. “I’ll even get us matching sunglasses. The whole nine yards.”

If this is not me I don’t know what is. So Elle has my heart. She was a relatable character that truly had you rooting for her. I loved that she was a writer and blogger. The blogging and vlogging world is so important to me and many other fangirls and boys. So it was really special to see that world portrayed here.

SAGE my wonderful green haired goddess, I did not know it was possible to relate to so many characters yet here we are. As the B in the LBGTQ I was so here for this character and everything she was! Really one of the best side characters ever. I could go for a book about what comes next for her!

Darien my nerd girl heart! I loved him. I know some guys who look like your typical popular jock, who could never understand fandom’s but that is not always the case ALL people can surprise you. Anyone can be geeky and Darien is no exception. I loved his story and the difference between who he wanted to be verses who the world though he was.

Excelsicon was done so well. I have always wanted to do a cosplay contest but I can’t sow to save my life! This whole book was geeky wonderfulness! If someone wants to do a movie version i’m here for that! This gave me Cinderella story circa Hilary Duff days! Only 1000 times better because these were characters I could relate too! PEOPLE get your preorder going because it’s so worth it. SO MANY STARS FOR THIS.

Synopsis via Goodreads

Nev has just joined the crew of the starship Kaitan Heritage as the cargo loader. His captain, Qole, is the youngest-ever person to command her own ship, but she brooks no argument from her crew of orphans, fugitives, and con men. Nev can’t resist her, even if her ship is an antique.

As for Nev, he’s a prince, in hiding on the ship. He believes Qole holds the key to changing galactic civilization, and when her cooperation proves difficult to obtain, Nev resolves to get her to his home planet by any means necessary.

But before they know it, a rival royal family is after Qole too, and they’re more interested in stealing her abilities than in keeping her alive.

Nev’s mission to manipulate Qole becomes one to save her, and to survive, she’ll have to trust her would-be kidnapper. He may be royalty, but Qole is discovering a deep reservoir of power—and stars have mercy on whoever tries to hurt her ship or her crew

The blurb for this book left me with some super high hopes and it did not disappoint. There is space travel, shadow, bad ass fight scenes, slow burn romancing, wickedly amazing characters. I count myself very lucky to have gotten my hands on this. I think this book is going to blow up BIG!
The characters and world building are fantastic. I felt like I was truly in these new places while reading this. The architecture felt so real. I could fully envision everything and that is hard to do in SCI-FI novel. On top of that we get to see a good amount of different places so there was a lot of world building being done.
THE CHARACTERS wow I have not loved every core character to the group in a book since six of crows! Qole is our bad ass female lead in this she is strong, smart, fierce, but she is also closed off from people. She has issues she is working through that have caused her to not imagine a future for herself. Watching her grow was amazing. Nev my sweet undercover prince! Can I just first say I AM HERE FOR HIM BEING SENSITVE! He was great bad ass dual blade wielding but also inherently kind. He wants what is best for his people and friends. Nothing could take the kindness from his heart. I really loved that he was the more heart on your sleeve character also because we seldom see men in the profile.
I loved the rest of the crew as well Basra and Arjan are life. I need to know everything there is to know about them! Telu and her bad ass hacking! I love a hacker it is my not so secret wish to be that amazing with hacking! Eton with his stand offish vibe but in the same sentence he is cooking dinner like a boss! Solara, Nev’s sister. I NEED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT HER!
Lets’s talk dual POV I loved them both! Usually I find myself liking one POV better and then dying to get back to the one every time it changes. With this though I was happy no matter what. I loved both characters so much I could have lived in their minds forever.
Romance in this is slow burning wonderful. ALL AROUND. Yes yes yes! That is all I am going to say about that. This book was so good. I loved it go buy it now please.
5 stars!

Synopsis via Goodreads

Cash Carter is the young, world famous lead actor of the hit television Wiz Kids. When four fans jokingly invite him on a cross-country road trip, they are shocked that he actually takes them up on it. Chased by paparazzi and hounded by reporters, this unlikely crew takes off on a journey of a lifetime–but along the way they discover that the star they love has deep secrets he’s been keeping. What they come to learn about the life of the mysterious person they thought they knew will teach them about the power of empathy and the unbreakable bond of true friendship

I was so excited to get my hands on this! It did not disappoint! I have been seeing so many mixed reviews for this but I really enjoyed it!
Our main characters all have their own personal stories going on throughout this book. Colfer did a great job of letting each of them have their own voice. I could always tell who was who during the dialogue. I found the characters to be very likable. This is one hell of a diverse group and I love that. There is someone for everyone in this book.

We have Cash Carter super star who seems to be turning bad boy I loved him and the dynamic he brought to the group! Our four friends Topher, Sam, Joey and Mo feel as though their friendship exists only because of Cashes show Wiz Kids. They think without it they have nothing in common, because of this they are keeping very big secrets from each other. The appearance of Cash is going to change everything they thought they knew and also change them.

This book truly shows you the meaning of not ever knowing whats going on inside the people the around you. You may think that you know someone, maybe you think they have everything together and know who they want to be. Maybe you wish you were more like them. Only to find out they are just as crazy as you trying to figure life out one step at a time.
Though some moments and situations seemed a little predictable it was still a fun fast read. It never slowed down or made you bored. THE END was so worth everything. I did see it coming about half way through but honestly not even mad about it! The tears, the happy, the friends, the sad, it was PERFECT. If you loved Chris Colfer’s first YA book this one will not disappoint. Great fun, friend power, fluffy read! 4 stars!
